AWARD WINNING CAROLINES CAKES
You will want your wedding or special occasion to be one to remember and I can help towards that with a hand crafted wedding cake or a very specialcelebration cake with that little something.
Your wedding or celebration cake should be the centrepiece of the wedding reception or a party and I can ensure this by offering a wide range of wedding and hand crafted cakes to suit your design requirements and budget. My commitment is to the highest possible quality, a fact recognised by an international magazine that features many of my designs and porcelain flowers. My wedding cakes can also be seen in the `Wedding Cakes A Design Source` magazine. In April 2001, West Sussex County Time featured my work writing, "Caroline Frost`s life-like sugar and porcelain flowers could fool Alan Titchmarsh."
No two cakes are made the same; every commission is different thus making the cake exclusive and unique to the customer. I offer traditional, stylist, classical, modern or exotic design or you can even design your own cake. All the pictures shown on this website are my own work.
Only the finest ingredients are used in my delicious cakes, including free-range eggs. I do not use packet mixes or bought in cakes and only use porcelain products that comply with food contact legislation. I offer a rich fruit, Madeira, lemon or a chocolate cake made with real chocolate. I cannot guarantee that celebration cakes are free of nuts.

DID YOU KNOW The history of the wedding cake goes back as far as the Roman Empire, well before the concept of elaborately icing a cake, was invented. Through the years, the wedding cake has become the focus of a variety of customs and traditions. Some of these customs have survived through time. Some have not. The custom of breaking the cake over the bride's head, is no longer practiced. The tradition may have its roots as far back as the Roman Empire. The groom would eat part of a loaf of barley bread baked especially for the nuptials and break the rest over his bride's head. History tells us that breaking the bread symbolized the breaking of the bride's virginal state and the subsequent dominance of the groom over her. As wedding cakes evolved into the larger, more modern version, it became physically impractical to properly break the cake over the bride's head. The tradition disappeared fairly quickly in some places, but there were still reports of breaking an oatcake or other breakable cakes over the bride's head in Scotland, in the 19th century. It's reported that in Northern Scotland, friends of the bride would put a napkin over her head and then proceed to pour a basket of bread over her. It's hard to say why some traditions endure and some do not, but the obvious male chauvinistic bent of this particular tradition probably leads to its early demise.
